~ Juneau Water Utility to Begin Flushing Water Distribution System
Starting on September 1, 2026, the City and Borough of Juneau Water Utility will commence the process of flushing the water distribution system. This routine maintenance work is essential for ensuring clean and safe drinking water for the residents of Juneau.
According to the schedule released by the utility, the flushing will begin in Douglas and then move on to downtown before working its way north to the hospital, Lemon Creek area, Valley, Auke Bay, and Tee Harbor area. The work is expected to be completed by the end of October 2026.
The flushing process involves removing sediment and mineral buildup in low flow areas of the system. This helps to maintain high-quality fresh water for Juneau residents.
