PITTSBURGH, July 9, 2024 ~ Michael Baker International, a renowned global leader in engineering, planning, and consulting services, has recently welcomed Daniel Filer, P.E., as their new Executive Vice President (EVP) of Operations. With over 25 years of experience in the engineering industry, Mr. Filer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm's Infrastructure segment project execution.
In his new role, Mr. Filer will work closely with the organization to enhance operational efficiency and drive project execution. He will also focus on utilizing the firm's staff effectively and ensuring that projects are delivered with the highest standards of quality, innovation, and client satisfaction. Additionally, he will cultivate strong relationships with key clients and partners across the firm to provide them with a high level of engagement.
One of Mr. Filer's key responsibilities will be to train, develop and retain top talent within the organization. He will also enforce the firm's quality standards and ensure the use of processes and tools to optimize efficiency. Furthermore, he will support the implementation and adoption of new project management technology.
According to James E. Koch, Ph.D., P.E., Chief Operating Officer at Michael Baker International, the creation of this new position reflects their commitment to continuously evolve and improve their business operations while maintaining excellence throughout the company. He also expressed his excitement about partnering with Mr. Filer to drive operational growth and maximize the firm's potential as they continue to expand.

Prior to joining Michael Baker International, Mr. Filer served as President of Webber's Infrastructure Management Division since 2018. In this role, he was responsible for leading strategy, financial performance, operations, and client service for a diverse portfolio of projects spanning from Anchorage, Alaska to Miami Florida. He has also held positions such as Vice President of Business Development for Ferrovial Construction (formerly Ferrovial Agroman) and Business Development Manager and Structural Engineer at HNTB.
Apart from his extensive experience in the engineering industry, Mr. Filer also has 11 years of experience as a reserve engineer officer with the Louisiana Army National Guard. During this time, he supervised heavy construction projects both domestically and in hostile environments abroad.
Mr. Filer holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana Tech University.
With his wealth of experience and expertise, Mr. Filer is expected to play a crucial role in driving operational growth and enhancing project execution at Michael Baker International. The firm is confident that his addition to their team will further strengthen their position as a global leader in the engineering industry.
