~ Juneau, Alaska- Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Small Business Administration (SBA) have arrived in Juneau this week to conduct a Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment following the devastating Mendenhall River flooding on August 6. The teams, consisting of FEMA, SBA, state and tribal representatives, will be on the ground in affected neighborhoods to assess the damage and gather information to support any potential request for a federal declaration of emergency.

The assessment teams will be working diligently through Friday, August 30 to visit individual homes and conduct thorough damage assessments. Residents who have been impacted by the recent flooding may be eligible for Individual Assistance from the State of Alaska. To learn more or begin the application process, individuals can visit ready.alaska.gov or call the IA hotline at 1-844-445-7131. The deadline to apply for IA is October 9.
