One of the most heartwarming additions to the recovery efforts is the arrival of three Crisis Canine teams in Juneau. These highly trained dogs and their handlers will be providing comfort and emotional support to flood-impacted residents, emergency responders, and volunteers. The teams will be visiting neighborhoods, shelters, Disaster Assistance Centers, and schools from Wednesday, August 14 to Wednesday, August 21. This program is part of the National Crisis Response Canine program and more information can be found at crisisresponsecanines.org.

For those in need of financial assistance, the Juneau Community Foundation has reestablished the Mendenhall Flood Relief Fund. This fund is open for applications from those who have experienced significant loss due to the flooding. The foundation has also received generous contributions from businesses, tourism industry members, foundations, and individuals both within and outside of Juneau. Donations can be made online or by check payable to Juneau Community Foundation.
