~ Local experts and federal agencies will be coming together on October 30 for a Special Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) Assembly Committee of the Whole Meeting. The meeting, which will take place at 6 p.m. in City Hall Assembly Chambers and online, will cover various topics related to GLOF mitigation.
The meeting agenda, presentations, and meeting materials are now available on the juneauak.portal.civicclerk.com/ website. Attendees can expect to hear from representatives of the University of Alaska Southeast and the National Weather Service about recent studies and advancements in understanding the science of Suicide Basin.
In addition, two branches within the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will be present to discuss their respective programs and next steps for both short-term mitigation efforts and identifying a long-term solution.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will also be presenting on their Emergency Watershed Protection Program and a potential buyout program for View Drive. While public testimony is not included in the agenda, members of the public are encouraged to share their questions and comments on the topic through various channels.
