~ Juneau, Alaska - The registration for CBJ Parks & Recreation's Start Smart Soccer program will open on Monday, June 23 at 12 p.m. Parents and guardians can sign up their children online through the Parks and Rec registration catalog under the "Youth and Teen" tab.
The Start Smart Soccer program is designed for children ages 3-4 and will run for six weeks from mid-July through August. The cost of the program is $40 plus tax and includes a Start Smart t-shirt. Scholarships are also available for those in need, with applications being accepted online at bit.ly/ZGYCscholarship or by emailing [email protected]
This year, CBJ is offering two sessions of the program - one in downtown Juneau and one in the Valley. However, participants are only allowed to register for one session to ensure that as many children as possible can participate. Each session has a limit of 25 spots.

The downtown session will take place on Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Juneau-Douglas High School turf field from July 17 to August 21. The Valley session will be held on Saturday mornings from 10-11 a.m. at the Thunder Mountain Middle School turf field from July 19 to August 23.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis and any registrations received after the session is full will be placed on a waitlist. Children must be at least three years old by the start of the first session to be eligible to register.
The Start Smart program allows children to learn basic soccer skills such as kicking, dribbling, trapping, and agility in a supportive environment with an adult in their lives. Adults are encouraged to actively participate in the program alongside their child. For more information about the program, visit the Start Smart website.
