~ Juneau Parks & Recreation is once again encouraging residents to stay active and explore the great outdoors with their annual virtual trek from Juneau to Ketchikan. The event, known as Walk Southeast, is a free and fun activity that allows participants to track their miles walked, run, or hiked between May 1 and September 1.

Participants have the chance to win prizes in a local drawing by logging more miles. Those who reach 150 miles will also be entered into a drawing for two round-trip tickets from Alaska Airlines. To be eligible for the drawing, participants must be registered, live in Alaska, and submit their tracker by September 2. Registration is open now through May 7 at walksoutheast.org.

Walk Southeast is a region-wide activity created by Juneau Parks & Recreation. This year, communities such as Ketchikan, Sitka, and Petersburg will compete for the title of 2025 Walk Southeast champion. The community with the highest average of miles walked per participant will take home the title.
