~ Starting Monday, June 3, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts will have to find an alternate route as a section of the Perseverance Trail will be closed for construction. The closure will span from the Granite Creek intersection to the Upper Red Mill juncture, while crews work on replacing the bridge at Gold Creek, located at mile 2.5.

According to Trail Mix, a local trail maintenance organization, the closure will remain in effect until the new bridge is fully installed. The first step in this process will be dismantling and removing the old bridge by Trail Mix crews. Weather permitting, helicopter crews will then transport materials, bridge beams, and equipment to the site later in the week.

During this time, hikers can still access Granite Creek Basin Trail and Silverbow Basin via the Red Mill Trail. However, it is important for everyone's safety that they follow signed detours and avoid the construction site.

The CBJ Parks & Recreation department can be contacted at (907) 586-5226 for more information. The community's patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as Trail Mix works to safely and efficiently complete this project and reopen the trail as soon as possible.
