~ Juneau residents and visitors are in for a festive treat this holiday season as the City and Borough of Juneau's Parks & Recreation department presents the annual Candy Cane Hunt. From December 3 to 17, participants can explore the city, support local businesses, and have a chance to win exciting prizes.
To take part in the Candy Cane Hunt, interested individuals can print or download a Candy Cane Tracker from the Parks & Rec website. The tracker will guide them to various stores around town where they can find printed candy cane numbers displayed in the windows. The more candy canes they find, the more chances they have to win prizes.
This year, there will be two different trackers available - one for Downtown Juneau and one for the Mendenhall Valley. Participants can choose their preferred tracker or complete both for even more chances to win in the prize drawing.
The Candy Cane Hunt is open to both kids and adults. To enter the prize drawing, participants must submit their completed Candy Cane Tracker by December 17. The number of tickets earned will depend on how many numbers are found, with all details listed on the tracker. Additionally, participants can earn bonus tickets by locating five extra-large candy canes hanging in windows of CBJ offices and facilities downtown. Taking a selfie with each candy cane found will earn them one bonus ticket per selfie.

Several businesses are also offering special deals for Candy Cane Hunt participants such as treats, free items, or discounts. These participating businesses will be marked with an asterisk on the tracker and participants can scan a QR code on or near their front door to redeem their special offer.
The prize drawing will take place on Wednesday, December 18 and winners will be notified via phone or email. The list of winners will also be announced on Juneau Parks & Recreation's Facebook page.
For those without access to a printer, they can email [email address] with their mailing address and the number of trackers needed. Trackers can also be picked up at the new Parks & Rec office on Glacier Avenue from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
For more information, interested individuals can contact Parks & Recreation at (907) 586-5226 or visit the Candy Cane Hunt website or Facebook event page. Don't miss out on this fun and festive holiday activity in Juneau!
