~ Juneau, Alaska - The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly has announced a public hearing scheduled for April 7, 2025. The meeting will be held at 7pm in the Assembly Chambers or via Zoom webinar, with the location subject to change if a larger venue becomes available.
The agenda for the meeting, along with all relevant materials, will be posted on the CBJ website at https://juneau-ak.municodemeetings.com/ by close of business on the business day prior to the meeting. Members of the public are encouraged to participate either in person or remotely through Zoom. However, due to time constraints, testimony will be limited by the Mayor based on the number of participants.
Those who wish to provide oral testimony via remote participation must notify the Municipal Clerk by 4pm on the day of the meeting. They can do so by calling 907-586-5278 and indicating which topic(s) they wish to testify on. For those who prefer to participate in person, a sign-up sheet will be available at the back of the Chambers and advance sign-up is not required.

In addition, members of the public are encouraged to send their comments in advance of the meeting to [email address]. This will ensure that their voices are heard even if they are unable to attend in person or remotely.
The public hearing will cover several items including Ordinance 2025-07 which proposes amendments to procedures and requirements related to abandoned, junked, wrecked, and impounded vehicles. Another ordinance up for discussion is Ordinance 2025-11 which seeks to repeal CBJC 75.01.210 related to thawing and other miscellaneous charges under the Water Utility Code.
Furthermore, Ordinance 2025-18 aims to amend Title 42 of the Penal Code regarding crimes involving domestic violence in accordance with State of Alaska Statutes and House Bill 66. Ordinance 2025-20 will address tax exemptions spanning multiple construction seasons, while Ordinance 2025-21 seeks to exempt the 2025 fireworks display purchase from compliance with the Procurement Code.

The Assembly will also consider Ordinance 2025-22(b) which authorizes the Manager to negotiate and execute a Tidelands Lease for the purpose of waterfront commercial activities. Additionally, two ordinances, 2024-01(b)(AG) and 2024-01(b)(AH), propose transferring funds from various departments to different capital improvement projects.
Lastly, Ordinance 2024-01(b)(AI) will appropriate $10 million to the Manager for the Juneau Douglas Treatment Plant Clarifier Building Repair Capital Improvement Project, with funding provided by General Obligation Bond Proceeds.
The Clerk's office has also announced that ADA accommodations are available upon request. Those who require closed captioning or sign language interpreter services should contact the Clerk's office at least 36 hours prior to the meeting.
