~ Starting this week, Juneau drivers will have a new and improved way to pay and appeal parking citations. The Juneau Police Department (JPD) Community Service Officers will be utilizing new parking system tools that will not only save them time, but also make the process easier for drivers.

These tools are part of a larger project to update the CBJ parking systems by 2024. The goal is to improve efficiency, save resources, and ultimately make parking easier for Juneau drivers.

One of the major changes is the ability for drivers to pay or contest their citations online at juneau.citationportal.com. This means no more searching for paper citation slips - drivers can simply look up their citation using their license plate number or VIN and pay with a credit or debit card.

For those who prefer to handle things in person, payments can still be made at the Cash Office on the first floor of City Hall. Accepted forms of payment include credit/debit cards, cash, or check. It's important to note that payments will no longer be accepted at the JPD building.

In addition to these changes, Community Service Officers will now be issuing printed parking citations instead of writing them by hand. This will save them valuable time and allow them to more effectively enforce the parking regulations that have been in place since 2010.

As a reminder, on-street parking within the downtown parking zone is limited to two hours per day for all vehicles except those with ADA tags. These time limits are enforced from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). For a refresher on downtown parking rules, drivers can visit the CBJ Parking page.

For more information about the 2024 upgrades and improvements, visit the Parking Improvements project page. And for any questions or concerns, please contact CBJ Parks & Recreation at (907) 586-5226 ext. 2. With these new tools and updates, parking in Juneau will be a smoother and more efficient process for everyone involved.
