~ Local science and emergency management experts will be hosting a town hall meeting on Monday, June 3 at 7 p.m. in the UAS Egan Lecture Hall to discuss glacier outburst flood monitoring and forecasting. The event aims to educate the community about the latest developments at Suicide Basin and provide information on how to prepare for potential flooding events.

Attendees can expect an overview of new research efforts, forecasts, and the monitoring web page, as well as insights from emergency management professionals on best practices for being prepared. The town hall will also feature four distinguished speakers: Jamie Pierce from the US Geological Survey, Eran Hood from the University of Alaska Southeast, Aaron Jacobs from the National Weather Service, and Tom Mattice, CBJ Emergency Programs Manager.
