~ Juneau, Alaska- The city's Parks & Recreation department has announced an exciting event for families to enjoy together. A Despicable Me Movie in the Park marathon will be taking place over the course of a month at various Parks & Recreation facilities.
The marathon will feature all four Despicable Me movies, with each one being presented at a different facility. This unique event allows families to not only watch the movies, but also participate in various activities such as skating, swimming, and running around while they watch. For those who prefer to sit back and relax, there will also be free seating available on the sidelines.
In addition to this exciting event, Parks & Rec is introducing new family rates starting December 26th. Families can now enjoy discounted admission to Juneau Pools and Treadwell Arena for up to 2 adults and 3 youth/children for $22 and $25 respectively.
The first movie in the marathon, Despicable Me (PG), will be shown on Saturday, December 28th at Treadwell Arena. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the show begins at 6:30 p.m. Regular admission rates apply for skaters, but those who prefer to watch from the bleachers can do so for free. It is important to note that there is a maximum capacity of 100 skaters for this showing.

On Sunday, January 5th, Despicable Me 2 (PG) will be shown at Augustus G. Brown Pool. Locker rooms open at 6:15 p.m. and the show begins at 6:30 p.m. Regular admission rates apply for swimmers, but free seating is available in the lobby area. The maximum capacity for this showing is 75 swimmers.
The following week on Sunday, January 19th, Despicable Me 3 (PG) will be shown at Dimond Park Aquatic Center. Locker rooms open at 6:15 p.m. and the show begins at 6:30 p.m. Regular admission rates apply for swimmers, but free seating is available in the lobby area. The maximum capacity for this showing is 100 swimmers.
The final movie in the marathon, Despicable Me 4 (PG), will be shown on Saturday, January 25th at Dimond Park Field House. Doors open at 1:45 p.m. and the show begins at 2 p.m. This showing is free for everyone, but attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and pillows to get comfortable. Low-back chairs are also permitted, but please sit towards the side or back to avoid obstructing others' view. It is important to note that only water is allowed on the turf during this showing.
