~ Douglas' Homestead Park will be temporarily off-limits to the public as it undergoes major reconstruction work starting on Monday, January 13. The project, which is expected to last until June 2025, will bring significant improvements to the park including the replacement of elevated wooden platforms, walkways, and stairs. This much-needed renovation is being funded by the Marine Passenger Fee program.

While the park is closed, visitors can still access the 3rd Street & David Street bus stop and adjacent sidewalk without any impact from the construction. However, the Homestead Park surface parking lot will be closed for the entire duration of the project.
