~ Juneau is rallying around the construction of a new city hall at 450 Whitter Street. At the 2023 Southeast Conference Annual Meeting in Sitka, Richard (Chalyee Éesh) Peterson, president of the Central Council of the Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (Tlingit & Haida), voiced his support for the project.

Local illustrator and small business owner Pat Race has also lent his voice to the cause, creating a short animated explainer video to highlight his reasons for supporting the ballot proposition and proposed location.

Joan O'Keefe, Executive Director of SAIL, Inc., believes that a new city hall would be more accessible for all Juneau-ites to participate in their local government. Eric Forst, Partner at Red Dog Saloon, sees this project as an opportunity to create a vibrant and sustainable Juneau. Brad Austin, President of Juneau Building Trades, is in full support of Proposition No. 1 and believes that owning one building versus renting multiple properties will save costs for current and future generations.

The community has come together to express their support for this project and are encouraging citizens to vote on it when ballots are released. More information can be found on the CBJ Elections home page or on the "Community Support" section of the New City Hall webpage at bit.ly/cbjcityhall.
