~ Dimond Park Aquatic Center Implements Changes to Ensure Swimmer Safety Amid Staffing Shortages
In response to critical staffing shortages, Dimond Park Aquatic Center (DPAC) has announced several changes that will go into effect on Friday, September 6. These changes are aimed at ensuring the safety of swimmers while still keeping the pool open to the community as much as possible.
One of the main changes is a limited capacity policy, which will cap the number of swimmers allowed in the pool at 50 on Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays. Additionally, the pool will have reduced hours on weekends, closing at 3 p.m. on Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays. However, weekday hours will remain unchanged.
To further ensure safety, access to certain equipment such as diving boards and slides will be restricted on Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays.

These changes are temporary and will be lifted as soon as staffing levels allow. According to DPAC officials, this is estimated to be in November. In the meantime, they urge community members to check the DPAC schedule before heading over to the pool for updated information on hours and availability.
Juneau Pools is actively hiring for both full-time and part-time positions in an effort to alleviate staffing shortages. Interested individuals can view job openings and apply at bit.ly/careersCBJparks. For those interested in becoming a lifeguard, DPAC will be offering a Lifeguarding Course from October 16-19—more details will be announced soon.
For more information about these changes or job opportunities at Juneau Pools, please contact Seth Cayce at (907) 586-0839. The community's patience and understanding during this time is greatly appreciated by DPAC officials who look forward to returning to full operations in the near future.
