~ Juneau Launches Task Force to Address Short-Term Rentals and Housing Availability
The City & Borough of Juneau has taken a proactive step towards addressing the impact of short-term rentals (STRs) on housing availability in the city. A new task force has been launched to investigate the issue and recommend improvements.
Comprised of Assembly members and members of the public representing various community interests, the task force will be active for approximately five months. Its main objective is to review existing data on short-term rentals and housing, gather feedback from the community through public meetings and written submissions, and explore different regulatory approaches to STRs with a focus on long-term housing availability and affordability.

The task force will ultimately evaluate and recommend various options for managing short-term rentals in Juneau. To ensure that all voices are heard, the public is encouraged to share their thoughts, suggestions, or proposals through the task force website. Additionally, two public forums will be held to gather feedback from the community, with dates yet to be announced.
Meetings will take place every other Thursday at 12:10 p.m. in City Hall and over Zoom. A complete list of meeting dates can be found on the task force website or on the CBJ public meetings calendar.
