~ As the city of Juneau, Alaska continues to experience heavy rainfall and flooding, several facilities and roads have been closed for safety reasons. According to a press release from the City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ), the Dimond Park Aquatic Center, Dimond Park Field House, and Mendenhall Valley Public Library will be closed today, Tuesday, August 6. In addition, Riverside Drive is closed southbound from Stephen Richards Memorial Drive and several side streets and roads near the river are also currently closed.

The CBJ urges residents to respect all road closure signs and avoid driving through floodwaters. These closures are necessary as water levels continue to rapidly recede. The affected roads will be reopened as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
