The MEI is a nationwide evaluation examining how inclusive municipal laws, policies, and services are of LGBTQ+ people who live and work there. Cities are rated based on non-discrimination laws, the municipality as an employer, municipal services, law enforcement and leadership on LGBTQ+ equality.

Juneau is the only city in Alaska to receive a perfect score out of 506 cities evaluated nationwide. For more information about criteria or the MEI scoring system, visit hrc.org/mei.
