~ The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) has issued an update on the current avalanche advisory as of January 5, 2026 at 2:16 p.m. The recent weather forecast of new snowfall, rising temperatures, and strong winds has increased the risk of avalanches in all known slide paths, as indicated on the map provided by CBJ.

While this is not an evacuation advisory, residents are urged to remain vigilant as conditions can change rapidly and without warning. In the event that an evacuation advisory is issued, CBJ will send out an emergency alert. The city is also taking precautionary measures by prepositioning resources for potential emergency sheltering at Centennial Hall and additional response resources if needed.
