~ The City and Borough of Juneau is gearing up for its 2024 Regular Municipal Election, with the candidate filing period set to open on Friday, July 12 at 8 a.m. and close on Monday, July 22 at 4:30 p.m. This election will see the selection of a Mayor, two Assembly members, and three Board of Education (School Board) members.

As the filing period approaches, the community is encouraged to consider this opportunity to serve the public and contribute to their city. All candidate filings must be submitted in person at the Municipal Clerk's office located on the second floor of City Hall. It is recommended that candidates file as early as possible during the filing period to allow time for any necessary corrections to their paperwork.

Those interested in running for office must complete a Declaration of Candidacy, a Nominating Petition, and an Alaska Public Offices Commission (APOC) Public Official Financial Disclosure form. These forms can be found online at juneau.org/clerk/elections and must be filed with the CBJ Municipal Clerk's Office during the designated filing period.

The Declaration of Candidacy and Nominating Petition forms must be submitted in their original paper form with original signatures and notarization. The Public Official Financial Disclosure form must be filed electronically on APOC's website and a signed printed copy must also be submitted to the Clerk's Office. It is important to note that without these three paper documents filed by the close of the filing period on July 22 at 4:30 p.m., a candidate's nominating petition cannot be certified.

In order to run for office, candidates must meet eligibility criteria including voter registration and residency requirements. Detailed information can be found on each specific Declaration of Candidacy form for Mayor, Assembly, or Board of Education. It is important for potential candidates to review these forms carefully as eligibility criteria may differ depending on which office they are running for.

It is also important to note that candidates may only run for one elected office at a time, whether it be for Mayor, Assembly, or Board of Education. The following seats will be open in this election:
