~ As the holiday season approaches, the City and Borough of Juneau has announced that most of its offices and facilities will be closed on Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1 in observance of Christmas and New Year's Day.
According to a press release, this includes City Hall offices, the Juneau Douglas City Museum, and all branches of the Juneau Public Library. However, there are some services and facilities that will have different operating schedules during the holidays.
Capital Transit & CAPITAL AKcess will have modified schedules during this time. On Tuesday, December 24, bus service will end early with the last buses leaving Downtown for the Valley at 6:45 p.m. and for Douglas at 7:17 p.m. CAPITAL AKcess service will also end at 8 p.m. On Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1, buses will not be operating. Full service will resume on Thursday, December 26 and Thursday, January 2 respectively.

The Dimond Park Field House track will also have modified hours during the holidays. It will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1. Eaglecrest Ski Area will be closed on Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1 but will otherwise be open daily throughout the holidays. However, operations may be affected by weather conditions so individuals are advised to check the Mountain Report at skieaglecrest.com for updates.
The Jensen-Olson Arboretum is currently closed to the public and will remain closed until January 2. It will reopen on Friday, January 3 with winter hours of Friday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Both Augustus G. Brown Swimming Pool and Dimond Park Aquatic Center will close early at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24 and Tuesday, December 31 and will be closed all day on Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1. The full schedules for these pools can be found on their respective calendars.
Mt. Jumbo Gym will also have modified hours during the holidays, closing at noon on Tuesday, December 24 and Tuesday, December 31 and remaining closed all day on Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1.
RecycleWorks will be closed on Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1. Additionally, the Household Hazardous Waste facility will be closed on Thursday, January 2.
However, Shéiyi X̱aat Hít Youth Shelter will remain open throughout the holidays to provide support for youth in need.

However some services such as Capital Transit & CAPITAL AKcess are still available with modified schedules while others like Treadwell Arena are offering a variety of public sessions over the holidays.
