~ Juneau, Alaska - The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) has announced the launch of an update to its Comprehensive Plan, a crucial document that outlines the city's growth and development for the next 20 years. To kick off this important process, CBJ will be hosting a series of Community Listening Sessions over two days at four different locations to gather input from residents about their experiences, challenges, and vision for Juneau's future.

The events will take place on Tuesday, April 22 and Wednesday, April 23 at various locations throughout the city. The first session will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Centennial Hall in the Egan Room, followed by another session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thunder Mountain Middle School in the Commons. On Wednesday, there will be a session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mendenhall Valley Library in the Large Meeting Room and another from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Juneau Douglas High School in the Commons.

The listening sessions will be open house style, allowing residents multiple opportunities to share their thoughts and ideas with city officials. Residents are encouraged to attend any session that is convenient for them or stay for the entire two hours.

According to CBJ officials, the Comprehensive Plan is a crucial guide that shapes all aspects of life in Juneau - from housing options to shopping destinations and even public transportation decisions. It also plays a role in protecting the environment and supporting the local economy.

Residents who are interested in participating in this process can attend one of the listening sessions or stay involved throughout all three phases of the Comprehensive Plan update. The first phase, "Listening and Learning," will focus on gathering community input on challenges and opportunities to create a shared vision for Juneau's future. The second phase, "Imagining Possibilities," will explore different growth scenarios for the city. And finally, the third phase, "Shaping Policies for Action," will involve developing clear strategies and policies to guide future decisions.
