~ Juneau Pools is gearing up to help young swimmers prepare for the upcoming spring and summer swim lesson seasons with two swim lesson expos at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center. The events will take place on Wednesday, March 6 and Wednesday, March 13.

According to the Parks and Recreation department, registration for the expos will open online on Friday, March 1 at noon. The expos will provide an opportunity for children to work with experienced swim instructors in small groups to assess their skill level and comfort in the water. This will help them determine which class level would be most suitable for them.

The expos will offer five sessions between 4:15 p.m. and 6:10 p.m., each lasting 15 minutes. There will be a total of 12 spaces available for Preschool swimmers (ages 3-5) and another 12 spaces for Youth swimmers (ages 6-12). Interested participants can sign up through the Parks and Rec registration catalog by clicking on the Juneau Pools tab.

The best part? This event is completely free of charge! It's a great opportunity for young swimmers to get a head start on their swimming journey.

Starting in summer 2024, Juneau Pools has announced that young swimmers will need to either attend a lessons expo or complete the previous level of classes in order to sign up for intermediate and advanced swim lessons (Levels 2, 3, and 4). This new requirement aims to ensure that all swimmers have a strong foundation before moving on to more advanced levels.

For those interested in registering for spring swim lessons, more information will be available next week. Stay tuned for details!

In addition to these two expos, there will also be more opportunities in May for young swimmers to participate.
