~ Juneau's Annual Water Quality Report Shows Positive Results, CBJ Announces
The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) has released its annual water quality report, showcasing the positive results of the city's drinking water sources. As per the report, Juneau's treated drinking water from the Last Chance Basin wellfield and Salmon Creek Reservoir met all state and federal public health standards with no detectable contaminants such as PFAS or lead.
The report, which is available to the public each year, also highlights CBJ's investments in critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects. In the last fiscal year alone, over $10 million was invested in necessary upgrades to water reservoirs, sewer lift stations, and the Mendenhall Wastewater Treatment Plant. This fiscal year, an additional $15 million will be invested in improvements such as rehabilitating an aging clarifier at the Juneau-Douglas Treatment Plant and installing a biosolids crusher at the Mendenhall Wastewater Treatment Plant.

During this year's major winter storm, CBJ employees went above and beyond by working to uncover nearly 1500 fire hydrants to ensure access to emergency services for the community. The full report can be found on the CBJ Engineering and Public Works website.
It is mandatory for all drinking water suppliers to provide an annual statement describing their community's water supply and quality as per the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. For any questions or concerns regarding Juneau's water supply, residents can contact CBJ Utilities at 907-586-0393.
This annual report serves as a testament to CBJ's commitment towards providing safe and high-quality drinking water for its residents. With continuous investments in infrastructure projects and diligent monitoring of water sources, Juneau remains dedicated to maintaining its excellent standards of drinking water quality.
