~ The City and Borough of Juneau has announced the three finalists for the position of Police Chief. The finalists, Derek Bos, Krag Campbell, and Joshua Kingsbury, will take part in public town halls between September 26 and 28.

Derek Bos currently serves as the Police Chief for Eagle Police Department in the Town of Eagle, Colorado. Prior to this role, he held the position of Chief of Police for the Brush Police Department in Brush, Colorado from 2018 to 2022. He started his career as a sworn officer with the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office in Chaffee, Colorado and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Studies with an emphasis on Criminal Justice from Dordt College.

Krag Campbell currently serves as a Lieutenant with the Juneau Police Department since October 2017. He started his career as a police officer at JPD in 2002 and has since been promoted through the JPD ranks to his current role. Prior to moving to Juneau, he grew up in Ketchikan and is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy in 2019.

Joshua Kingsbury started his career as a sworn officer with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1996 and retired in 2021 as a Captain with oversight of Field Services, Criminal Investigations, and Judicial Operations/Administration. Since then he has been employed as a Multi-Site Loss Prevention Site Lead for Amazon in Albuquerque and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Western New Mexico University.

The finalists were selected after initial screening by the Human Resources and Risk Management Director and interviews with the City Manager's Office. All three will participate in an on-site selection process including community town halls and meetings with JPD and CBJ staff starting on September 26th 2023. The public is invited to attend town hall meetings at City Hall Assembly Chambers at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday (Krag Campbell), Wednesday (Joshua Kingsbury), Thursday (Derek Bos). After each town hall meeting, members of public are welcome to submit feedback on each candidate to City Manager for consideration during selection process.
