The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting two new residents identified with COVID-19 in Juneau. How the individuals acquired the virus is under investigation.
Of the 12 new cases reported yesterday for February 13-16, two are from the Juneau School District – an individual at Harborview Elementary School and an individual at Juneau-Douglas High School. Contact tracing of both individuals did not reveal any close contacts within the schools. In-person instruction has not been impacted at either school.
Cumulatively, Juneau has had 1,116 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 140 nonresidents. There are 19 active cases in Juneau and 1,232 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There are currently two people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) reports 40 new people identified with COVID-19 – 37 are residents and three are nonresidents. The state also reports one death – a male Anchorage resident in his 60s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 286. Alaska has had 54,799 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 2,178 nonresidents.
Vaccine information
According to DHSS, 7,070 people in the Juneau region have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine – either Pfizer or Moderna – and 4,365 have completed both doses. Statewide, 130,997 people have received their first dose and 68,151 have completed both doses.
