CBJ reports five new COVID-19 cases in Juneau

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting five new residents identified with COVID-19 in Juneau. Public Health is attributing two cases to secondary transmission, one to out-of-state travel, and two are under investigation.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 993 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 125 nonresidents. There are 16 active cases in Juneau and 1,097 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There are currently two people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) today reports 305 new people identified with COVID-19 – 296 are residents and nine are nonresidents. The state also reports a recent death – a male Fairbanks resident in his 80s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 228. Alaska has had 49,835 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,631 nonresidents.

Vaccine information

According to DHSS, 2,180 people in the Juneau region have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine – either Pfizer or Moderna – and 598 have completed both doses. Statewide, 43,992 people have received their first dose and 10,954 have completed both doses.stats
