The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center reports 25 new individuals – 24 residents and one nonresident – identified with COVID-19 in Juneau for July 27 and July 28. Of the resident cases, Public Health attributes five to community spread, nine to secondary transmission, two to out-of-state travel, and eight are under investigation. The nonresident case is a visitor.

Two resident case clusters have also been identified. One cluster is associated with a local private organization and is currently at nine individuals – three are active and six have recovered. The other cluster is associated with a local restaurant. That cluster is currently at six individuals – three are active and three have recovered. All employees associated with both clusters are aware and have been given guidance on quarantining and testing.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 1,550 residents test positive for COVID-19 and 192 nonresidents. There are 108 active cases in Juneau and 1,629 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 526 new people identified with COVID-19 in the past two days – 471 are residents and 55 are nonresidents. The state also reports two deaths – a male resident of Soldotna in his 70s and a male resident of Anchorage in his 70s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 379. Alaska has had 71,757 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 3,154 nonresidents.
