CBJ reports 12 new COVID-19 cases in Juneau Feb. 20-22

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting 12 new individuals identified with COVID-19 in Juneau for the time period February 20 – 22. Eleven are residents and one is a nonresident. Of the resident cases, Public Health is attributing eight to secondary transmission and three to community spread.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 1,137 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 141 nonresidents. There are 28 active cases in Juneau and 1,245 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There is currently one person with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) reports 346 new people identified with COVID-19 over the time period February 20 – 22; 311 are residents and 35 are nonresidents. The state also reports one recent death – a female Anchorage resident in her 70s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 287. Alaska has had 55,507 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 2,246 nonresidents.

According to DHSS, 7,347 people in the Juneau region have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine – either Pfizer or Moderna – and 4,779 have completed both doses. Statewide, 142,531 people have received their first dose and 87,332 have completed both doses.
