~ Juneau, Alaska - Due to hazardous road and weather conditions, the City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) has announced that all CBJ facilities will be closed on Tuesday, January 6. This includes all offices and facilities listed below. In addition, the Juneau School District (JSD) has also declared a closure for all schools tomorrow.
CBJ staff will continue to provide services remotely where possible, but the closure of facilities is necessary for the safety of both residents and employees. The city encourages all residents to stay off the roads to avoid any potential accidents and to allow snow removal teams to work efficiently.
The closure affects all CBJ facilities and offices, including the Juneau Public Libraries locations, the Juneau Douglas City Museum, and all Juneau Parks & Recreation facilities such as the Dimond Park Field House, Dimond Park Aquatic Center, Augustus G. Brown Pool, Treadwell Arena, and the Zach Gordon Youth Center. However, Shéiyi X̱aat Hit Youth Shelter will remain open.

City Hall, the CBJ Permit Center, and all other CBJ offices will be closed to the public but can still be reached by phone or email. The Juneau Recycling Center and Household Hazardous Waste will also be closed through the weekend.
Capital Transit will continue to operate on winter routes during this time. For more information on schedules and routes, residents can visit juneaucapitaltransit.org.
CBJ is actively monitoring and clearing roofs at their facilities in order to prevent any potential damage from heavy snowfall. They are also increasing staffing and resources to support these efforts.
In light of an incoming atmospheric river that may bring additional impacts such as an increased risk of avalanches, CBJ staff are working closely with their agency partners at the National Weather Service and Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities. Residents can stay updated on current avalanche hazard levels at bit.ly/CBJavalanche.
