WHEREAS, from the storefront shops that anchor Main Street to the high-tech startups, small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the cornerstone of our State's expansion; and
WHEREAS, when we support small business, jobs are created, and local communities preserve their unique culture; and

WHEREAS, Alaska's small business owners bring their knowledge and excitement for what they do, contributing to the vitality of our economy and inspiring others to realize the full promise of our State; and
WHEREAS, small businesses embody the spirit of our State's identity and prosperity, and this week we honor and recognize the patriotic pioneers who have contributed to our Great State's economy and culture.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim May 1 – 7, 2022 as:
Small Business Week
in Alaska, and encourage all Alaskans to support small businesses and recognize the impact they make in our communities.
