55 new COVID-19 cases reported for Juneau

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 55 new individuals in the Juneau community – 52 residents and three nonresidents – identified with COVID-19 for September 23. There are currently eight people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

The Juneau School District reports seven new individuals who've tested positive for COVID-19 and were infectious while in school:
  • Five at Thunder Mountain High School (all classes operating on regular schedules)
  • One at Harborview Elementary (all classes operating on regular schedules)
  • One at Sitʼ Eeti Shaanáx̱ – Glacier Valley School (one class quarantined)

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 1,330 new people identified with COVID-19 – 1,285 are residents and 45 are nonresidents. The state also reports seven deaths, bringing the total number of resident deaths to 473:
  • a male Anchorage resident in his 60s
  • a male Palmer resident in his 70s
  • a female North Pole resident in her 60s
  • a male Fairbanks resident in his 70s
  • a female Fairbanks resident in her 30s
  • a male North Pole resident in his 50s
  • a male Fairbanks resident in his 90s

Alaska has had 101,384 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 4,509 nonresidents.
